Thorne Widgery make the 2021 Xero Awards shortlist

Accountancy firm Thorne Widgery is celebrating after being named as finalists at the 2021 Xero Awards, which celebrate the UK’s most innovative practices.

The firm, which has offices in Hereford and Ludlow, has been selected for the shortlist in the Total Xero Award category, which recognises those firms who are making the most of Xero – one of the world’s leading online accountancy platforms.

Thorne Widgery is a close partner of Xero and has not only supported its clients with onboarding to this innovative accounting system but has gone on to develop unique technological solutions of its own to help specific sectors and the wider accountancy profession.

The firm is now a well-recognised leader in the field of cloud accounting and its expertise and services are often called upon by other accountancy firms who need support.

Chief among its developments is X for Education, a special application developed in-house to help schools and academies with their finances. This is now in use with many schools across the UK who are benefitting from the information and efficiencies it offers.

Daniel Crowther, CEO of Thorne Widgery, said: “We love Xero at Thorne Widgery and so do many of our clients, so it is a real honour to get recognition at their annual awards.

“We have worked hard to innovate and improve our firm over the last decade and we are now widely seen as one of the UK’s leading practices for online accounting, especially when it comes to our Xero services and expertise.

“None of this would be possible without the hard work of our team, who continue to go above and beyond to deliver excellent advice and support to our clients.”

The firm will find out whether it has won an award at a special virtual ceremony on 3 March 2021.

As well as being a user of Xero, the firm has acted as a promoter of its services holding events, webinars and producing articles to help businesses make the most of the popular digital platform.

This has become increasingly important in light of the ongoing adoption of the Government’s Making Tax Digital initiative, which requires businesses to record and submit information to HMRC digitally.
