Daniel Crowther

Dan Crowther has been with Thorne Widgery since 2001, when he left Ludlow College to join the firm as a young trainee accountant. He progressed through the ranks and was made a Director of TW in 2012 and is now CEO of Thorne Widgery.

Dan is hugely proud of his Ludlow roots – he is Ludlow born and bred, he has played for Ludlow Football Club, in its many incarnations, since he was 18 and he still lives locally, just outside in Ashford Carbonel.

His passion for Ludlow and the surrounding area, his unrivalled local knowledge and his flair for making accountancy ‘anything but boring’ is why so many Ludlow clients entrust him with their business and personal financial matters.

His areas of expertise include owner-managed businesses, limited companies, Xero accounts software and tax planning.

Meet our CEO Dan and see how he can help you

Dan is on a mission to change the way people view accountants. His whole ethos is to make accountancy relevant to your business, the modern day challenges it faces and not be restricted by tradition. As such, Dan certainly isn’t your typical accountant and has even been known to make a joke or two.

His pro-active, ‘can do attitude’ combined with his enthusiasm and ability to explain things in a no-nonsense way without resorting to ‘accountancy-speak’, is the reason why he is so popular with clients who, in turn, have recommended him to others. He was even honoured with the Practice Pioneer of the Year award at the 2019 Accounting Excellence Awards.

When Herefordshire-based TW expanded into Ludlow in spring 2018, there was really only one man for the job and Dan is delighted to be back in Ludlow – a town he is incredibly proud to call home.
