Our Accounts and Audit Team is expanding!

Audit Senior and Semi-Senior Accountants: Two roles available

We are potentially looking for two accountant roles within the audit team, to start at the end of March / beginning of April.

Joining Thorne Widgery as part of the Audit team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an driven individual who can be qualified by experience with a proven track record in accounts preparation and audit.

Experience in the education and charity sectors would be of benefit however, is not essential.

We have a choice of two offices in Hereford and Ludlow, within easy reach of Shropshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Wales.

The Person:

  • Experience within an accountancy practice for at least:
    • 6 months for the Semi Senior Audit role
    • 12 months for the Senior Audit role
  • P/Qualified or Qualified ACA/ACCA (QBE will also be considered)
  • Audit as a proportion of your previous role
  • Up to date technical knowledge and skills in the audit field
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • Highly motivated, committed with positive and ambitious attitude
  • An enquiring mind is encouraged

Role Overview:

  • Undertake audits and assurance work of limited companies, charities, education clients and other not for profit sector clients
  • Working closely with a Manager to meet client and professional development targets
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients and their staff, undertake a pro-active interest and awareness of client sectors and businesses
  • Support and work with Audit team and across other areas of the practice
  • Senior role will be accountable for audits assigned; including planning, execution and completion of work on time and to budget

Client Care Manager

Exciting newly created opportunity to work alongside the Audit and Accounts Production teams managing client engagement on individual projects. The role will comprise scheduling and attending meetings ahead of audits or accounts jobs to set expectations and agree required actions from all parties to meet set deliverables.

An autonomous role working alongside Audit and Client Managers on assignments; requires good communication, planning and executions skills.

The position would see the successful person being office based and also attending client sites for pre-planning and pre-production meetings. Report writing, client negotiation, customer relationship management  and team engagement is key to the success of this role with the purpose of improving client experience, time and cost ratios and overall performance of the teams.

The Person

  • Minimum 12 months experience within client relations or customer care
  • Ability to create and action reports and reviews
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • Highly organised, positive and ambitious attitude
  • An enquiring mind is essential
  • Critical thinker
  • Previous experience of handling objections or having difficult conversations
  • No experience of audit or accounts required for this position
  • Position is open to applicants seeking either full or part-time hours

Role Overview:

  • The Client Care Manager would regularly report to the Head of Department regarding the various projects currently being overseen
  • Responsible for oversight of the execution of budget and administrative related duties, in order to deliver quality projects
  • Provide outcome reviews of projects on a regular basis, highlighting areas of improvement, matters compromising success and summary of findings against benchmarks
  • Responsible for supporting future design strategies to help coordinate and plan improvements
  • Actively monitor and participate in the implementation and completion of recommended improvements

Experienced Senior and Semi-Senior Accountants

Thorne Widgery, are expanding and always looking for talented Senior and Semi-Senior Accountants to join our team.

You will be working on a wide variety of assignments for clients, who range from local owner-managed businesses to large organisations.

We have a choice of two offices in Hereford and Ludlow, within easy reach of Shropshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Wales.

This opportunity will suit if you have previous experience in an accountancy practice; competent accounts experience, organised and an excellent communicator. Ideally, you will hold a relevant accounting qualification or are part-qualified AAT / ACCA /ACA or be qualified by experience.

We are open to full or part-time working hours.

CPD is encouraged and supported.

Work will be varied but will typically include preparing financial statements, producing statutory accounts files for Manager or Partner review, assisting with audit or tax work and attending client meetings.

The person:

  • At least 6 months experience in an Accountancy Practice
  • Car Owner/Driver
  • Accounts or audit experience
  • A good communicator work well as part of a team
  • Desirable – ACCA / ACA qualified, part qualified, QBE
  • Desirable – MAAT

Role overview:

  • Working with a range of clients including sole traders, partnerships and small limited companies
  • Preparation of year end accounts and management accounts
  • Possibly participate in audits / independent examination of limited companies, charities, education clients and other not for profit sector clients
  • Managing the working of, and developing junior team members
