Our Accounts and Audit Team is expanding!

Audit Senior and Semi-Senior Accountants: Two roles available

We are potentially looking for two accountant roles within the audit team, to start ASAP.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual who can be qualified by experience with a proven track record in accounts preparation and audit.

Experience in the education and charity sectors would be of benefit however, is not essential.

We have a choice of two offices in Hereford and Ludlow, within easy reach of Shropshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Wales.

The Person:

  • Experience within an accountancy practice for at least:
    • 6 months for the Semi Senior Audit role
    • 12 months for the Senior Audit role
  • P/Qualified or Qualified ACA/ACCA (QBE will also be considered)
  • Audit as a proportion of your previous role
  • Up to date technical knowledge and skills in the audit field
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • Highly motivated, committed with positive and ambitious attitude
  • An enquiring mind is encouraged

Role Overview:

  • Undertake audits and assurance work of limited companies, charities, education clients and other not for profit sector clients
  • Working closely with a Manager to meet client and professional development targets
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients and their staff, undertake a pro-active interest and awareness of client sectors and businesses
  • Support and work with Audit team and across other areas of the practice
  • Senior role will be accountable for audits assigned; including planning, execution and completion of work on time and to budget

Experienced Senior and Semi-Senior Accountants

Thorne Widgery, are expanding and always looking for talented Senior and Semi-Senior Accountants to join our team.

You will be working on a wide variety of assignments for clients, who range from local owner-managed businesses to large organisations.

We have a choice of two offices in Hereford and Ludlow, within easy reach of Shropshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Wales.

This opportunity will suit if you have previous experience in an accountancy practice; competent accounts experience, organised and an excellent communicator. Ideally, you will hold a relevant accounting qualification or are part-qualified AAT / ACCA /ACA or be qualified by experience.

We are open to full or part-time working hours.

CPD is encouraged and supported.

Work will be varied but will typically include preparing financial statements, producing statutory accounts files for Manager or Partner review, assisting with audit or tax work and attending client meetings.

The person:

  • At least 6 months experience in an Accountancy Practice
  • Car Owner/Driver
  • Accounts or audit experience
  • A good communicator work well as part of a team
  • Desirable – ACCA / ACA qualified, part qualified, QBE
  • Desirable – MAAT

Role overview:

  • Working with a range of clients including sole traders, partnerships and small limited companies
  • Preparation of year end accounts and management accounts
  • Possibly participate in audits / independent examination of limited companies, charities, education clients and other not for profit sector clients
  • Managing the working of, and developing junior team members

Work experience, Apprentice and Graduate Opportunities

Accounts Trainee / Apprentice – AAT study

Enthusiastic, conscientious individual with a desire to learn and be trained by working within our busy practice combined with study of AAT qualification at an off-site training provider.

You will be joining us alongside a number of Apprentices who are either new to the practice or already on their Apprenticeship journey.

If you have achieved a high standard in your Maths qualifications, have a passion for problem solving and an enthusiasm for learning then we could be the right place for you. We are passionate about doing the best for our clients and actively encourage pro-activity from our team. Advocates of using the cloud and Xero Accounting software both within our business and with our clients, you will be trained in how to use these systems under the guidance of our Managers.

We are proud that we have been awarded Apprentice Employer of the year in 2016 and Apprentice of the Year in 2017 by training provider HWGTA.

Apprentice Administrators

Working as part of a great team who pride themselves on their Customer Service standards, your primary responsibilities will be, handling the incoming post, providing support to partners/managers by way of scanning documents, typing documents, updating client records and managing diaries.

Assisting with front of house reception, answering the phone, welcoming and announcing visitors and ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of the meeting room facilities may also be required.

There are two positions on offer and other duties and responsibilities will be added as required as business needs dictate and as training of the successful applicants develop.

Person Specification:-

Full training in-house and via Business Administration Apprenticeship will be provided. Attitude is key - we can train the processes and the technical.

This is an important role providing essential support within the team. The successful person for this job is will be required to have:

  • Polite and helpful telephone manner
  • Welcoming and cheerful disposition
  • Numerate with Excellent keyboard skills
  • Capable of meeting deadlines
  • Flexible approach
  • A Methodical approach to duties and tasks and the ability to work inside of company processes and procedures
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Able to interact with clients in person
  • Willing to learn and take on new tasks, roles and responsibilities
  • The ability to work under pressure
